Shelf life-extending solution for grapes to guarantee safe transportation
SPM Biosciences Inc. from Beijing (China) offers shelf life-extending solutions for safe transportation of fresh grapes.
Debbie Wang, international business manager for SPM Biosciences (Beijing) Inc., assures that their product enables grape producers and exporters to send fresh grapes to long distance markets without compromising quality.
In order to continue developing fresh keeping technologies for grapes, the company has cooperated with Shandong Sinocoroplast Packing Co., Ltd, the official distributor of SO2 pad in China.
SO2 pad is a long-lasting and environmentally friendly solution that increases shelf-life of fresh grapes after harvest and during transport.
Together these two companies created a new technology that extends the shelf-life and quality of both: grapes and vine.
Wang highlights the company’s Angel Fresh product line and says it is a perfect match to SO2 pad products. The key active ingredient of Angel Fresh is 1-MCP, an ethylene inhibitor which extends the fruit’s shelf-life and makes the grape stem preserve its green color. Their method, according to Debby, is safe, easy to use and comes with no residual losses. The Angel Fresh sachet or card only needs to be added to the grape cartons for transportation and storage.
Recent market circumstances resulted in delays and port congestion. This is why the demand for shelf-life-extending products increases.
This is the third year that SPM Biosciences Inc. cooperates with Shandong Sinocoroplast for the Angel Fresh product line. The product was successfully tested in Xinjiang, Yunnan and Sichuan province.
The aim is to extend cooperation throughout China and help partners to sell grapes with excellent quality and long shelf-life to long distance markets, concludes Wang.
