In the Emilia Romagna region the harvest of summer fruits will be normal, not abundant, according to the latest estimates of Fruitimprese ER, the association that groups together the largest commercial enterprises of the region (900 million euros of turnover 60% of exports).
The frosts and bad weather recorded in early March affected winter vegetables (artichokes, cabbages, broccoli, fennel) and some orchards that were already in bloom in the south of the country. But in the Emilia Romagna region a normal harvest is expected.
According to Fruitimprese ER, for the winter fruit campaign still in progress, apples are the best performers. The initial production deficit (-30%) is felt on the prices. For pears, after a certain stability, the market may go down. For kiwifruit, even after a lower than normal harvest, it remains complicated and the possibility of a price increase by the end of the season is fading.
