Hass avocado from La Libertad region departs to Asia for the first time
VU
The Agroforestal Producers Association of the Viru-Chao Basin (Agrofor) successfully shipped their first container of Hass avocado to Asia. The shipment was carried out with the help of the Technological Institute of Production (ITP) of the Ministry of Production (Produce) via the Chavimochic Agro-Industrial CITE.
Thanks to support of the National Agrarian Health Service of Peru (Senasa), 700 tons of Hass avocado were sent to Korea, China, and Japan.
Agrofor is located in the Viru district, La Libertad region, and counts with 23 members, 50 hectares of land, and an annual production of around 600 tons of exportable Hass avocado, certified with Global GAP, GRASP, and CLP Multidestination.
Agrofor's Hass avocado has early production due to its location at 700 meters above sea level, good weather conditions year-round, and quality water from the Huacapongo river.
Hass avocado has a durable skin, which makes it easy to transport and extends its post-harvest life. It is highly valued for its versatility in gastronomy and high nutritional value.
