Agricultural areas have increased

The Mendoza region continues to increase its agricultural surfaces including those of garlic.
The Mendoza region in the west of the country, at the foot of the Andes Cordillera, has recorded an increase in agricultural lands.
The IDR (Instituto de Desarrollo Rural) announces an agricultural area of 18,431 hectares, an increase of 10% in the last season 2012-13. Which represents the double of the surfaces of the neighboring region of San Juan.
This increase of areas has benefited from crops of garlic and potatoes (+18%) which represent now a third of the total area. Followed by pumpkin (+20%), tomatoes (+15%), carrots (+7%) and maize (+5%).
