Rockit, the new miniature apple
FJ
The Havelock North Fruit Company has developed a new small apple, called "Rockit. "
Rockit is a small apple, barely bigger than a golf ball market dedicated for snacking, with a beautiful red color, crispy and sweet.
The Rockit should appeal to a broader population, younger, and who previously did not consume apples.
Havelock North Fruit Company believes that its new miniature apple could find a niche market and is already exploring its sale in the United Kingdom, the United States and some Asian markets.
In 2006, New Zealand produces around 500,000 tons of apples.
