Significant export potential in F&V production and processing of Uzbekistan.
Based on Memorandum of Understanding signed between Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan and US Agency for International Development in Uzbekistan (USAID) in September 2016 was launcher Agricultural Value Chain Activity (AVC).
AVC carries out an integrated “value-chain” approach and covers 11 regions of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Karakalpakstan supporting production, processing and marketing of fruits and vegetables.
It conducts technical assistance and training activities for producers, input suppliers, post-harvest processers, and exporters to seek and apply innovative agricultural practices that lead to the sustainability of the producers and enterprises involved in the production, post-harvest management, and marketing of Uzbekistan fresh and processed fruits and vegetables.
The goal of AVC Activity is to seek opportunities to increase fruit and vegetables yield and quality, improve incomes of agrarian businesses, increase packed and processed output, increase targeted fruit and vegetable exports, link producers and processors to international markets, and strengthen relationships between agrarian educational institutions and the private sector.
To reach its goal the AVC implements activities through four directions that are linked to a single integrated system: improve the quality and volume of agricultural production, improvement of post-harvest handling and production, facilitates market linkages, educational and research institutions linking them with private sector.
Thanks to this program production of Uzbekistan are already known in many countries of the world and fresh fruit and vegetables are exported in Russia, Central Europe, Middle East and others.
