A MAPA-backed mission connected Abrafrutas members with Indian importers, retailers and logistics operators.
Brazilian fruit exporters are looking to expand their presence in India after a commercial mission supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock brought producers closer to buyers and supply-chain operators in one of the world’s largest consumer markets.
The mission, organised by Abrafrutas with support from MAPA, the Brazilian Agricultural Attaché in India and the Embassy of Brazil in New Delhi, focused on market prospecting and the promotion of Brazilian fruit in the Indian market.
In New Delhi, the delegation visited Azadpur Subzi Mandi, the capital’s main wholesale fruit and vegetable market, as well as traditional markets, organic shops and stores specialising in imported products. Meetings with retailers showed interest in sourcing Brazilian fruit, according to MAPA.
After New Delhi, the delegation travelled to Mumbai for Fresh India Show 2026 and visited the Port of Mumbai to assess logistics for fresh fruit shipments.
MAPA said the mission comes as Brazil’s fresh fruit exports continue to grow. In the first quarter of 2026, shipments rose by more than 20% in value and 13% in volume compared with the same period last year. Since 2023, Brazil has opened 34 new export opportunities for fruit.
