Specialty Fertilizers tested in Farm Case Studies
The controlled release fertilizer Agrocote Max by ICL Specialty Fertilizers is now in it’s 2nd trial year in potato at the precision agriculture trial station of Van Den Borne Potatoes (southern part of the Netherlands in light sandy soils). Trial progress and results were accurately measured with help of drones, soil scans, water quality and biomass tests.
The field with Agrocote Max showed the highest yield; 14% higher vs the field with N-inhibitor (DMPP) and vs the field with conventional fertilizers.
Jacob van den Borne explains how the trial was set up.
Agrocote Max is a fertilizer with a coating to improve nutrient efficiency and plant utilization. Due to the coating there is significant less volatilization and leaching and the plant receive the nutrients in a controlled way. The release of nutrition is based upon moisture and temperature, offering predictable longevities, even under the warmest conditions”, - explains Global market manager Specialty Agriculture Sander Selten. “Agrocote Max delivers the core nutrients from 2 up to 6 months. Therefore, it can be employed for most short- and medium-term crops. In vegetables, orchards and row crops Controlled Release fertilizers are becoming more and more polulair”.
