Sunkist Growers, Inc., one of the oldest agricultural cooperatives in the United States, is excited to welcome Elaine Trevino as the new Vice President of Government Relations and Sustainability. In her new role, Trevino will spearhead efforts to strengthen Sunkist’s advocacy initiatives and advance its sustainability programs, reinforcing the organization’s dedication to environmentally responsible practices and supporting citrus growers.
With over two decades of expertise across agriculture, trade, policy advocacy, and sustainable practices, Trevino brings a wealth of knowledge to the cooperative. Prior to joining Sunkist, she held key leadership positions within the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), equipping her with deep insights into the regulatory landscape. Additionally, Trevino led the Almond Alliance of California as its President, where she championed the interests of almond growers and oversaw the organization’s operations, finance, and policy strategies.
Trevino will focus on developing Sunkist’s government relations framework, managing priorities around international trade, and addressing federal and state policies concerning water, packaging, taxes, and supply chain logistics. Her work will also aim to secure funding opportunities through government grants and procurement programs, fostering growth and resilience for citrus farmers.
Trevino commented that she looks forward to working alongside the Sunkist team and collaborating with industry partners to advance sustainable solutions and advocate for growers’ needs.
