EU to propose lower tariffs on banana imports

According to US press reports, the EU Commission is to propose lower tariffs for banana imports. The Commission will suggest a tariff of EUR 179 per metric ton on banana imports, down from a previous proposal of a EUR 230 tariff, which was ruled illegal by the World Trade Organization.
