Situation of tomato and cucumber - February 2009

share
Spain
Friday 27 February 2009

Between the earlier crops and early pickings of second crops becoming available, there seem to be more volume on offer.

The quality on the other hand has been somewhat mixed depending on the different varieties and growing areas - some have been more affected than others. The better volume is allowing our growers to be as selective as possible to avoid any issues.

Production of cucumber from Almeria and the Granada region is still very slow.

Spanish cucumber is still expected to finish earlier than usual, glasshouse UK/Dutch is very expensive.

The Canary Islands continue steady supply and very good quality but no real volume.
