Japan is an important market for Taiwan's exports

 

 

 

Japan is a crucial market for Taiwan's exports, representing the 2nd largest destination for food products. Last year agricultural exports to Japan amounted to USD 790 million.

 

 

 

Some Taiwanese exports have made good progress, such as litchis, which have recorded double-digit growth rates in recent years and reached 1.3 million tonnes by 2016.

 

 

 

At the government level, discussions have begun on the possibility of reducing tariffs or increasing export quotas for certain products in order to further expand trade volumes between the two countries. Taiwan imported from Japan agricultural products for USD 1 billion last year.
