Output from processors during the season from July 2008 to end of March 2009 has reduced in volume by 1% compared with the previous similar period.
However, production recently has increased with a consistent demand reported during May, according to information published in the latest Euro Potato report, issued by Potato Council Ltd in the UK.
Interest was reportedly mainly for better quality bold stocks, whilst small samples and coloured varieties found few buyers. Buyers from GB are also maintaining a steady demand on the processing market. Quality problems are increasing with some poorest loads being diverted to animal feed.
