The second most imported fruit by Germany was grapes (fresh and dry), totaling 273.102 tons for $644 million.
The average price that exporters received for the grape was $2.4 per kilo. Peru exported 4.939 tons worth $13 million (0.2%).
During the first three quarters of 2021, Germany imported $9.712 million in fruit, which is 2% higher than in the same period in 2020.
Its main supplier in 2021 was Spain with $2.136 million in shipments and a 22% share. Meanwhile, Peruvian exports totaled $218 million, 2.3% more than in the same period last year.
In this way, Peru positioned itself as the thirteenth biggest supplier of fruit to Germany.
The main product imported by Germany was banana, totaling 1.056.694 tons for $828 million during said period. It is a slight increase of 2% in volume and 4% in value compared to 2020. The price increased 2%, reaching $0.78 per kilo. Its main banana suppliers are Ecuador, with a 29% share, Costa Rica (24%) and Colombia (23.3%). In turn, Peru supplied 22.917 tons of the fruit for a value of $23 million (2.8%). In addition, Peruvian suppliers received $1.2 per kilo, more than the average received by other exporters.
