Asparagus harvest started in Germany
Germany
Tuesday 27 March 2007
In Nord Rhein Westfalen near Castrop-Rauxel, german producers started harvest of this king vegetable.
The action started last week and brought from typical asparagus fields about 200 to 250 kilograms of vegetable during 4 to 5 hours work.
This early start was due to mild weather as normally asparagus harvest starts end of march or beginning of April. As weather forecast calls for coming cold, producers started already to cover fields
with plastic foil to protect vegetable against low temperature.
