Carrefour lands in Morocco through Label'Vie

New hypermarkets under the Carrefour banner will be established in Morocco thanks to the franchise agreement recently signed by the Carrefour Group with Label’Vie, Morocco’s number-two supermarket operator.
The first fruit of this franchise agreement will be the launch of the first hypermarket under the Carrefour banner, a store with a sales area of 5,500 sqm that will open for business in Rabat-Salé. With over 30,000 product references, 250 employees and 600 parking places, Moroccan consumers will therefore soon have access to the broad and original assortment of products characterising the Carrefour concept.
The retail chain will strictly adhere to Carrefour’s quality and safety standards, which are at the forefront of international standards.
With over 15,000 stores in 33 countries and nearly 490,000 employees, the Carrefour group is the world’s second largest retailer and the leader in Europe.
Created in Morocco nearly 25 years ago, Label’Vie is a large-scale retail trade name operating 19 supermarkets with 1,400 employees. At year-end 2008, Label’Vie reported sales of over DHS1.1 billion. Label’Vie’s development plan, presented at the time of its initial stock market listing, calls for 40 stores by 2011, including 6 hypermarkets.
