Sales of organic bananas reach 32% market share in Switzerland

As in the previous 3 years, Swiss consumers were very keen on organic bananas, with sales once again exceeding the 30% market share mark. 

 

According to BLW's market analysis, in January 2024 the Swiss retail trade sold 1,863 tonnes of organic bananas. This represents a market share of 32%.

 

The January results for the previous 3 years also showed a level above the 30% market share mark.

 

According to the 'Rapport Agricole 2023', Switzerland imported CHF 15.1 billion (USD 16.6 billion) worth of agricultural products in 2022, accounting for 6% of its total imports. In 2022, Swiss agricultural exports totalled CHF 10.8 billion (USD 11.9 billion).
