Organic farming products will have to reach at least a 15% share of the food range in French supermarkets. This was decided last week through an agreement between FCD (Fédération des commerces de la distribution), representing French large-scale retailers, and the ministry of Ecology about the future prospects of the sector to increase sustainable development.
According to the document, the parts commit themselves for a five-year term to implement what established during the General States on environment last autumn.
Retailers will also have to inform consumers about the environmental impact of most-common products.
Another important agreement concerns the double increase of the products traded with an eco-label, and the reduction by 10% of packaging, in accordance with agrofood manufacturers.
