First shipment of Turkish cherries by air in China.

The Turkish cherry is already a popular product on European markets where it has a special place, but the opening of the Asian market is a great victory for Turkish exporters, who have worked for many years to satisfy the phytosanitary conditions demanded by Chinese.
The first shipment started in early August and Chinese consumers appreciated the Turkish cherries.
According to the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Union of Exporters of Fruits and Vegetables of Uludağ, this year should be a trial period and about 6 tons should be sent in total. He added that due to some problems with customs formalities under the bilateral agreement between China and Turkey, prices were higher than expected, but the two countries are working together to find a solution.
Next season, with the impact of the positive image of the Turkish cherry on the Chinese market, the quantities exported should be higher. Exporters already have very positive returns.
