Pomegranate exports up 40%

Exports of Peruvian pomegranates this year should exceed those of 2011 by 40%. In 2011 they were already 46.1% higher than in 2010.
The excellent performance of exports of pomegranates in 2011 should continue this year.
In 2011, exports of Peruvian pomegranates totaled USD 3.9 million, a growth of 46.1%. For this year, exports
are expected to exceed 40% of last year's figures.
Cultivated areas amount to 1,200 hectares but should rapidly increase. Studies and research programs are being implemented for better production.
