Certificates issued by Iranian agricultural organizations are insufficient for several countries that have refused to import Iranian products, due to the discovery of mold or high pesticide residues.
Mostafa Daraeinejad, director of the Iran Fruit and Vegetable Association, told ILNA (Iran's Labor News Agency) that several countries no longer accept some of the certificates issued by Iranian agricultural organizations. Due to the discovery of mold or high pesticide residues, these countries refuse to import Iranian products into their markets and demand that their own standards be adhered to.
According to Mostafa Daraeinejad's statements, India has refused to import Iranian kiwis, Uzbekistan has rejected several thousand tons of Iranian potatoes, Qatar has rejected Iranian date palms and Russia has banned the import of Iranian peppers.
According to Mostafa Daraeinejad, the Ministry of Agriculture must take immediate steps to raise national agricultural standards, otherwise Iran risks losing important export markets. He added that this also affects Iranian consumers, who have the right to eat healthier products, free of nitrates and other pesticide residues.
Iran exported agricultural products worth $ 6.5 billion last year. The country is among the top 10 producers of various products, such as saffron, apples, citrus fruits, watermelons, melons, pomegranates, dates, pistachios and walnuts.
