Peru uses the March 2026 summit in Barcelona to address market access and regulatory requirements for agricultural exports to the EU.
Peru participated in the International Agri-Food Summit held in Barcelona on 23-24 March 2026 to strengthen cooperation with European partners and position its agricultural exports in the region, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation of Peru.
During bilateral meetings, authorities reviewed technical and regulatory requirements affecting agricultural trade with the European Union. The talks specifically addressed compliance rules linked to Peruvian asparagus, a key vegetable export to Europe, including harvesting practices and alignment with EU standards.
Officials indicated that strengthening regulatory cooperation is essential for maintaining stable access for fruit and vegetable shipments to Spain and other European destinations. The government also explored procedures to expand trade in additional agri-food products as part of broader efforts to support export growth.
