ConAgra Foods will buy Del Monte Canada, adding fruit and packaged "tomato" products to its portfolio
ConAgra, one of the largest U.S. food companies, will buy Del Monte Canada.
ConAgra Foods Inc. announced its intention to acquire Del Monte Canada Inc., supplier and distributor of packaged fruit, fruit products and vegetable snacks, with the deal including packaged fruits, snacks, Aylmer tomatoes,
the manufacturing plant in Dresden (Ontario) and the headquarter offices in Toronto.
This acquisition confirms the company's strategy of international expansion. Last November it had increased its interest in Agro Tech Foods Ltd. in India. Canada will strengthen its position in "tomato" and add to its range of packaged fruit snacks and fruit and vegetables.
