Vietnam recorded in 2022 the opening of several markets (China, New Zealand, Japan, United States) for its fruits and the amount of income will further increase.
According to data from the General Department of Customs, in the period from January to November 2022, fruit and vegetable exports exceeded USD 3.1 billion and are expected to reach USD 3.4 billion for the whole year.
This performance can be explained by the opening of new markets: China for bananas and durian, New Zealand for grapefruit and lemons, Japan for longans, the United States for grapefruit. But also by the various free trade agreements concluded and a re-opening of the markets after the Covid-19 epidemic as well as by a drop in freight prices.
The year 2023 will be a boom year with exports that could reach 4 billion USD, according to Dang Phuc Nguyên, secretary general of the Vietnamese Association of Fruits and Vegetables.
