The Panama Canal will increase the number of daily transits from 32 to 33 as of 11 July, according to local media. In addition, this number will increase to 34 as of 22 July, based on the current and projected levels of Gatun Lake for the coming weeks, thanks to the arrival of the rainy season in the Panama Canal Watershed (PCWB).
Also, as of 15 June, the draft will increase from 45 to 46 feet. With these increases, by 22 July the Canal will have added two additional transits to the current scenario: one to the panamax locks, bringing the number of daily transits to 25, and one to the neopanamax, increasing to nine daily transits.
The Panama Canal continues to monitor weather conditions on a daily basis to take the necessary operational measures in the event of increased rainfall in its watershed.
