Situation of Turkish strawberries in 26th week of the year

The situation is still uncertain and the problem of expensive carryover stocks from the big producers has created issues with slow harvest and variable prices.
Growers are getting a good return from the fresh market with stalk on and are therefore reluctant to process for freezing, this has therefore seen the raw material prices rise as the processors up their bids to secure some new season stock.
The low prices at the early part of the season meant that the fruit stayed on the plants longer, the consequences being soft, large and over ripe fruit reducing yields and increasing the price.
