South Korea, new destination for Peruvian avocado exports

South Korea, a new destination for Peru, is already exporting table grapes and mangoes to South Korea, which has just authorized the entry of Peruvian avocado into its market. 

 

 

 

Negotiations between the two countries began in 2013 with the exchange of technical documents on pest risk analysis. Last year, APQA, the South Korean quarantine service, traveled to Peru to visit the orchards and check the phytosanitary certification system set up by Senasa (Servicio Nacional de Sanidad Agraria).

 

 

 

APQA has just communicated to Senasa the Phytosanitary Protocol for the importation of avocados from Peru. Avocado is added to table grapes and mangoes that are already exported to South Korea. Peruvian professionals estimate that the volume could reach 10 000 tons during the next campaign.
