China has been the world top producer of fruit and vegetables. In 2000, the country's fruit farming lands accounting for 18% of the world figure with a 62,37 million tons output, accounting for 13%. China is the world top producer of apple and pear in successive eight years and number 3 for orange after Brazil and the USA.
