Blueberry firm looks to Africa
Australia

Australia's largest blueberry marketer is expanding operations in southern Australia and into northern Africa, to supply fruit nearly year-round.
Blueberry Exchange, which operates farms at Corindi and Tumbarumba in New South Wales, has just purchased a property in Northern Tasmania, to produce an additional 500 tons of berries.
The company supplies more than 2000 tons of blueberries a year to the domestic and international market from its own farms, and markets fruit for independent growers.
General manager, Peter McPherson, says Blueberry Exchange can supply fruit 48 weeks of the year, and is looking to Tasmania and Morocco to extend the season.
"The Morroccan operation will be somewhat later than what Tasmania is, and that will take up globally all the customers that we have apart from Australia and the domestic market", he says.
"It is counter-seasonal to the Australian market".
