Banana exports exceeded 1 billion USD

Banana exports have just passed the threshold of one billion dollars , according to the Philippine government statistics.

Banana exports reported 1,136 billion USD in 2014 , an increase of 18.06% compared to $ 962.58 million achieved in 2013. The main destinations of these exports : China , Japan, Korea, Middle East and New Zealand .

The banana sector is therefore given the disasters occasioned by the various typhoons that hit the plantations for 3 years. Recently, a series of floods raised fears about the spread of certain diseases, such as that known under the name " Panama disease " .

Now , professionals worry about the drought caused by the weather phenomenon "El Niño" .
