SA citrus growers fear bargaining power loss

South Australian citrus growers say they could lose their national bargaining power in the industry with the prospect of a single company replacing state and regional grower organisations.
Australian Citrus Growers announced this week that industry leaders had voted to move towards a single, integrated structure.
But the executive officer of the state's Citrus Industry Development Board, Andrew Green, says the vote was not immediately unanimous.
Mr Green says some of the state's growers are concerned they might lose local representation in the national body.
"There was definitely a high level of angst amongst those that attended the meeting, no doubt about that," he said.
"I think that the move to the new company, Citrus Australia Limited, is relatively easy, but what happens after that point, there's discussions about different models, how the different organisations come together."
