The extent food aid of fruits and vegetables

The program WIC(Women, Infants and Children) was designed to meet the basic nutritional needs of low-income women, their infants and children up to 5 years.
This program has existed since 1980 and allows beneficiaries to pay with food stamps, some food basics like milk, preparations for babies, cheese, eggs, cereals, bread.
The American Department of Agriculture has added to this list fruits and vegetables. This extension was tested provisionally in 2007, but its formalization should contribute to lower rates of obesity among children in low income in many states.
This program, costing 7 billion U.S. $, helped to provide food assistance to approximately 2 million women and nearly 7 million children in 2011 (the last year for which these figures are available).
