Cambodia strengthens China trade with banana, mango, longan, and coconut exports

By the end of November 2024, Cambodia had exported 12,400 tons of Palin longans to China.
In recent years, Cambodia has strengthened its agricultural trade with China by exporting four types of fruits: bananas, mangoes, longans, and coconuts. These exports are part of the growing cooperation between the two countries under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
BRI is a global infrastructure and economic development strategy launched by China in 2013. It aims to improve trade, investment, and connectivity between China and countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, and beyond.
Bananas were the first Cambodian fruit approved for direct export to China in 2019. Mangoes followed in 2021, with shipments beginning in May of that year. Longans were added in 2022, and by the end of November 2024, Cambodia had exported 12,400 tons of Palin longans to China. Fresh coconuts became the fourth approved fruit in 2023.
The approval of these fruits has allowed Cambodia to diversify its export portfolio and increase its presence in the Chinese market. All four fruits were recognized for their quality and taste, helping meet growing demand from Chinese consumers. The expansion reflects broader efforts to deepen trade ties and streamline agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
