The takeover of Hungary Cora adds 7 new hypermarkets to its 12 supermarkets and 11 shopping centers to Auchan in Hungary.
Auchan Hungary has Magyar Hipermarket has reached an agreement to buy Cora Hungary with the agreement covering the seven Hungarian Cora hypermarkets and shopping malls. The transaction will be effective within a few months after regulatory approvals.
Magyar Hipermarket opened its first hypermarket in 1997 under the name Cora. Today the three stores are located in Budapest and its suburbs (Budakalasz, Fot
, Törökbalint) and four in other cities (Szolnok, Miskolc, Szeged, Debrecen). The workforce numbers 2,700 employees.
The Auchan Group in Hungary now has 12 hypermarkets and 11 shopping malls after opening 1998. In 2010, it served 30 million customers and recorded a turnover of HUF 224 billion (816.4 million euros). It now has 5600 employees.
