Malaysia has been exporting whole frozen durians to China since 2019, where the demand for durian is growing. In Malaysia, durian production has increased considerably and the demand for liquid nitrogen, necessary for the freezing of fruits intended for export to China, has also increased considerably.

 

But in Malaysia, there are only 3 companies that produce liquid nitrogen and there is a shortage, according to local media. Liquid nitrogen is an item in high demand by the oil and gas industry and even though its price has doubled, liquid nitrogen producers prefer to take on large contracts rather than respond to durian exporters whose orders are seasonal. and of smaller volume.

 

If the problem of domestic liquid nitrogen production cannot be resolved in the coming months, industry professionals predict a significant decline in durian exports and a drop in income for local producers.
