The new direct maritime link connecting Veracruz (Mexico) and Rotterdam (Netherlands) reduces total transit time and will allow Mexican avocados to strengthen their presence in Europe.
UPM (United Producers of Mexico) and Greensea which is part of Seatrade Group, have implemented a new service connecting Mexico to Europe on a sea route that takes only 12.5 days. This specialized reefer service links the port of Veracruz, Mexico, to the port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. From the port of Rotterdam, land connections are easy to all destinations in Europe, including Spain, UK, France, Belgium, Germany and Scandinavia.
For Mexican exporters, this new maritime link eliminates one of the problems which prevented the strong presence of their avocados on European markets: the transit time of their products. Exporters are convinced that this is a great opportunity and that the exported volume will increase.
UPM (United Producers of Mexico) is in charge of promoting trade between Europe and Mexico in agricultural products. UPM has 2 partners in Mexico to manage RH Shipping and SeaCargo logistics. In the Netherlands, UPM works with its partner VDH Logistics & Transport to manage logistics and transport.
