Fruit is the best performer for horticultural exports in Kenya.
2017 balance sheet is satisfactory for horticultural exports which increased in value by 12.8%. By category, fruit exports achieved the best performance with + 23% in value in front of cut flowers + 16%.
According to government data in the national media, Kenya's horticultural exports increased by + 12.8%. Cut flowers showed a 16% increase in value, vegetables 2% and fruits recorded the best performance with 23%.
Since 2012, Kenya's agriculture sector has faced challenges in meeting the demands of international markets. The standards put in place for fruits and vegetables have begun to be adopted and become bases for exports.
