In Russia, vegetable imports fell by 14% in volume (Photo: world-food.ru).
In 2019 Russia imported vegetables from 76 countries. While the total volume decreased by 14% compared to the previous year, some vegetables recorded increases.
According to data from SeaNews TSVT, over the period January-November 2019, Russia imported 2 million tonnes of vegetables worth $1.5 billion. Compared to the previous year, imports decreased by 14% in volume and 3.6% in value.
While imports of tomatoes (-6.8% in volume), potatoes (-48.1%), carrots (-2.7%) and cucumbers (-22.3%) fell, others imports increased. As for example cabbage (+ 15.9% in volume and + 31.1% in value) and garlic (+ 3.9% in volume and + 8.8% in value).
During this period Russia imported vegetables from 76 countries. The main supplier countries were China (453,900 tonnes), Azerbaijan (235,800 tonnes) and Egypt (229,700 tonnes).
