Ukraine has imported record number of tomatoes this year

Ukraine produces around 1,5 millions tons of tomatoes every year. Due to latest data, 80 000 tons of the indicated amount are imported to the country.

These amounts of tomatoes are usually brought from abroad during winter – early spring time.

According to the latest estimates, over than 3 000 tons of tomatoes have been imported to Ukraine during February 2013. These record numbers exceed the previous year figures up to 10 %. This amount is considered to be the largest one during last 5 years. For example, Ukraine has imported only 2,4 thousands tons of tomatoes in February 2012.
