According to statistics published by this ministry, vegetable production increased by 2.4% compared to 2015, and fruit production by 6.8%. In 2016, the production of vegetables exceeds 30 million tons and that of fruit reaches almost 19 million tons.
In contrast, cereal production decreased by 9 percent from 2015 to over 35 million tonnes. Wheat production declined by 8.8 per cent, but barley production was the biggest decline: -16.3 per cent. While tobacco production increased by 3 percent from 2015 to 70,000 tonnes, sugar beet increased production by 21.5 percent to almost 19.5 million tonnes.
It is the onion the champion of vegetables in 2016. Fruit side, the apple, with 13.9 percent more is the fruit whose production increased the most.
