The Rewe Group will extend the Penny Market network

The German retailer, Rewe Group, which owns the supermarket chain Penny Market plans to increase its network in Romania.
Its 118 stores Penny Market are the first in the country. Rewe Group announced its intention to open 20 more stores in Romania, but without specific dates. Penny Market has achieved a turnover of more than 380 million Euros, an increase of 4.3% over the previous year.
Rewe Group also operates stores in Romania: Selgros cash & carry and Billa supermarket. Rewe has 14,500 stores in Germany, Austria, Ukraine, Hungary, Russia, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria. The total turnover of the group in 2009 was 50 billion Euros, sales in Eastern Europe account for 6 billion Euros.
