VU
Azerbaijan sharply reduced its date imports this year, bringing in lower volumes and spending less than in 2024.
Azerbaijan imported 5,702 tons of fresh or dried dates in January–September 2025, according to the State Statistics Committee. The value of these imports reached USD 9.1 million. Import volumes declined by 22 percent compared with the same period last year. Import value also fell, posting a 14 percent year-on-year decrease.
Dates were supplied from Iran, Tunisia, Israel, Palestine and Algeria, which remained Azerbaijan’s primary sources. These countries continued to dominate the market for most of the year.
Trade data also showed that, for the first time in 14 years, Azerbaijan imported dates from India. The shipment amounted to just 0.04 tons, valued at USD 300.
