The activities of The Greenery B.V. declined in 2012: turnover fell to € 1.4 billion against 1.6 billion in 2011.
The bad weather, but also the additional costs incurred to implement new automation systems and the departure of several members at the end of 2011 led to the disappointing results.
Goals for 2013: purchases based on demand, operational excellence, added value of the product and the company, exemplary sustainability. The collaboration with several major customers is remarkable, even in terms of logistics. A strategy of global supply is followed, and the use of new automation system continues to be optimized. The strategy for the period 2014-2016, drawn up together with the producers, is based on these points.
Sustainability is a key concept in the operation of The Greenery. To anticipate issues related to sustainability in the long run, a policy of sustainability targeted for 2020 was set up in 2012. The company will continue to strengthen its position in the coming years. The goal is to achieve by its own means an increase in transported volumes by 10% within 5 years.
