Innovative machines for small and medium size farmers to fight food waste worldwide
According to recently published Farm waste report an average farmer wastes around 16% of their crop. Produce being rejected for cosmetic reasons such as colour, shape and size was the major reason for food waste identified by farmers involved in the study. Those fruits and vegetables are simply ploughed back into the ground even though they are edible.
“One third of food grown globally is never eaten — a shameful waste of land, water and resources. Recent research has highlighted that reducing food waste is the third most effective solution to fighting climate change, therefore we need to fight food waste on farm level, — explains Robert Kreuzmayr, CEO Kreuzmayr Maschinenbau GmbH from Austria. “Our machines are made to process rejected for cosmetic reasons, damaged, “ugly” fruits and vegetables. And thus not only fight food waste, but also help farms to receive a better profit”.
Kreuzmayr Maschinenbau GmbH is one of the leading manufacturers of machines for fruit and vegetable processing. Company offers complete solutions for juice/puree/jam production and drying of fruits and vegetables. Kreuzmayr Maschinenbau GmbH most recently released new press machine Kreuzmayr KCP 200
“We do machines for small and medium farmers. Range is from 500 kg up to 20 tons/per hour, most of our customers work in a range between 500 kg and 2.5 tons/per hour. So 80% of our customers are small and medium farmers, who cannot afford huge expensive machines, but still want to fight food waste and earn more”, — concludes Mr. Kreuzmayr.
Kreuzmayr Maschinenbau GmbH will be an exhibitor at Anuga FoodTec and can be found in Hall 10.1 Stand entrance A, number 1 (Booth-Nr. 011) throughout the show, which runs from 20 to 23 March in Cologne.
