Chilean Fruit Industry seeks opportunities in Poland

Representatives of Chilean Fresh Fruit Exporters Association participated in Fresh Market Poland, help end of September in Ozarow Mazowiecki.

During the meeting, the Commercial Director of ProChile in Poland, Enrique Carrasco, and the Marketing Director of ASOEX for Asia and Europe, Charif Christian Carvajal, held various meetings with representatives of the retail of that country, visualizing very good possibilities for the promotion of Chilean fruits.

"Together with ASOEX we focused not only on meetings with local and international retailers, but also on presentations to make Chilean fruit and its availability calendar known. In ProChile our interest is to visualize new opportunities for Chilean products, and we believe that this fair is an important part to achieve our goals", said Enrique Carrasco, Commercial Attaché of ProChile in Poland. “Chile exports to Poland almost 25 000 tons fruits per year, so the market itself is interesting for us and similar to other European markets.”

"Although this is a small fair, comparing with Fruit Logistica, it allows us to be present in a very specialized niche within the horticultural sector. It is a very good possibility to plan promotional actions for Chilean fruit, especially for our blueberries, kiwis and table grapes. We had meeting with the main supermarket chains, such as Biedronka, to see the possibility of promoting our products in their stores. This chain of supermarkets has a strategy of direct import fruits from Chile, therefore, is a very good possibility to specify promotional actions. They already know our product, its quality and safety," - said Charif Christian Carvajal.

According to Chilean Fresh Fruit Exporters Association's Export data, during 2017-2018 Chile exported to Poland 572,154 boxes of fruit, which was 26% more than previous campaign. 67% of these exports are table grapes, 17% plums, 8.4% pears, 3.4% apples, 1.5% lemons, 1.3% kiwis, and 0.6% pomegranates.
