This event, held from 22nd to 24th of September in Mumbai, India, was an opportunity for the Turkish Promotion Group of olives and olive oil to make known its products for the 2016 / 2017 season which is about to begin.
Turkey is the second largest producer of olive oil and is first in the production of table olives. In the last 15 years, olive plantations doubled and the goal of this country is to achieve in 2023 a harvest of 1.2 million tonnes.
India is one of the global markets in which promotional activities will multiply. With a population of 1.3 billion people, it is the second most populated country in the world. Moreover, the standard of living increases rapidly in this country. Mr. Kadri Gündeş, Chairman of the Committee for Promotion of olives and olive oil, says Indian consumers being mostly vegetarian, have a particular interest in olives and olive oil.
Annapoorna World of Food 2016 hosted 700 exhibitors over 30,000 m2 with a food section of 12,000 m2. Indian importers of olive oil had the opportunity to meet on site Turkish exporters and a variety of their products.
