Merger between Le Marché de Phalempin & Soleil du Nord

The agricultural cooperative “le marché de Phalempin” (specializes in chicory), will merge with “Soleil du Nord”.

Since its creation in 1994, “le marché de Phalempin” has become a reference in the region Nord Pas de Calais (North of France). The cooperative has 300 members, its annual volume reached 55 000 tons.

The General Assembly reported that chicory production reached 27,000 tons, equivalent to that of last year, but revenue is down 15%.

- Strawberry production has registered a 5% increase.
- Onion production has declined.
- Leek production is still in crisis, even if the cold weather has recently boost prices.

Andrew Shearer, President, has announced the merger between “le marché de Phalempin” and “Soleil du Nord” during this General Assembly.
