Brazil offers support for another 16,360 tonnes of oranges

Brazil’s National Supply Company, Conab, offered a new round of support for the movement of around 16,360 tonnes of oranges from the 2026/27 crop, the agency announced earlier in September.

Six states covered

The programme covers family growers and cooperatives in Bahia, Pará, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo and Sergipe, with São Paulo receiving the largest allocation.

Support is being provided through Brazil’s Pepro and PEP mechanisms.

Under Pepro, growers or cooperatives must show that they produced the oranges and sold the fresh fruit to a processing company. If the full volume is not taken up, remaining quantities can be offered through PEP to processors purchasing fruit from eligible family growers at the government’s minimum price.

More fruit available

The latest round follows auctions earlier in September in which support was agreed for around 13,000 tonnes, equivalent to 36% of the volume initially offered.

The federal government has made up to R$10 million available to support the movement of fresh oranges from the current crop.

Brazilian orange production has recovered after the weaker 2024/25 season, increasing domestic availability. Conab said January-July 2026 juice export volumes were 12% higher year on year, although they remained below levels recorded two years earlier.
