Chile, the leading supplier of fresh fruit from the southern hemisphere and official partner Country for Fruit Logistica 2009, is planning its biggest presentation ever at the leading trade fair for the international fresh produce trade. It will present a broad spectrum of its key produce when the trade event is held for the 17th time at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds from 4-6 February 2009.
The Chilean pavilion comprises an area of 240 sqm. More than 100 Chilean growers and exporters will be represented.
This was announced in Berlin at the traditional reception hosted by the Chilean fresh produce industry for 500 of the Country’s major trading partners. Speakers included three of the key players in the Chilean fresh fruit industry: Chilean minister of Agriculture Marigén Hornkohl, FederFruta Chairman Rodrigo Echeverría and Ronald Bown, chairman of the Chilean Exporters’ Association (ASOEX).
“Fruit Logistica 2009 will be a great opportunity for Chile to further consolidate its position as one of Europe’s key strategic fresh fruit partners”, said Ronald Bown. “Fruit Logistica is the most important European trade fair for Chile. It provides an ideal opportunity for growers and exporters to meet with their key partners at one location and to attract new importers, wholesalers and buyers”.
The Chilean Minister of Agriculture Marigén Hornkohl will speak at the official opening ceremony at the ICC Berlin conference centre on 3 February. During Fruit Logistica, both she and Chile’s Ambassador to Germany Dr. Alvaro Rojas will be actively involved in the Country's marketing and information campaign at the Chilean exhibition stand where trade fair visitors will have an opportunity to learn about the country, its produce and its geographical and phytosanitary conditions.
Chile was the first South American Country to be represented at the international trade fair for fruit and vegetable marketing. The Chilean Fresh Fruit Association has taken part in the fair since 1997.
