Blueberries production in increase

The production will be in increase, according to the Committee, which expected a 30 % increase in Tucumán.
Argentinean Blueberry Committee published harvests estimations for the 2010/11 season.
According to the Committee, production should reach 12.000 tons. The country has mainly 3 zones of production: Tucumán, Concordia and Buenos Aires.
The harvests planned by the regions of Concordia and Buenos Aires will be stable compared to the last season. In Tucumán, the harvest should increase 30 % and reach 4.400 tons.
The first harvests began week 35. Peak of production would be in the weeks 44 and 45 for Tucumán, weeks 45 and 46 for Concordia, weeks 46 and 47 for Buenos Aires.
The Committee represents 70 % of Argentine blueberries’ export and includes the main companies of the sector: Tecnovital, Berries del Plata, Hortifrut, Agroberries and Sunbelle Argentina.
